Registration for Christendom College’s annual Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition is now open, the college’s admissions office announced on Wednesday. Set to be held on March 21, the competition will award three full-tuition scholarships and five runner-up scholarships to students for admission to the college in the fall of 2020.

For students seeking a faithful, authentic, Catholic liberal arts education, Christendom’s Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship offers them the most affordable way to receive one.

To qualify for the competition, applicants must already have been accepted for Christendom’s 2020-21 academic year and have achieved the prerequisite standardized test scores. Applicants will also need to submit a resume and fill out the application form on this page. Competitors must be physically present on campus for the competition on Saturday, March 21.

On the day of the competition, competitors will be seated for a timed written essay and will also take part in a 15-minute interview with a faculty panel. The ideal candidate will display outstanding academic potential, an appreciation for the Catholic liberal arts, and the traits and values that will make he or she an exceptional member of the college community both in the classroom and beyond.

While only three competitors will be awarded the full-tuition scholarship, five runner-up competitors will be awarded a $5,000 four-year renewable scholarship. In addition, all competitors will be awarded a $1,000 four-year renewable scholarship.

When not taking part in the interview or essay, competitors will have the chance to tour campus, mingle with students, and attend informational sessions about Christendom.

Parents are encouraged to attend the competition as there will be special informational events specifically for parents of competitors. College president Dr. Timothy O’Donnell will address competitors and parents, and director of admissions Sam Phillips and VP for enrollment Tom McFadden will also speak at the event.

At the end of the competition, competitors and their parents are invited to Christendom’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, a great opportunity to experience Christendom’s vibrantly Catholic culture.

The definitive deadline for registration is March 1, but due to growing interest in the competition, registration may close early if all competitor slots are filled. To secure a spot in the competition, early registration is encouraged.
