Alumni Fathers John Paul Heisler (’17), Joseph Townsend (’11), and Jonathan Fioramonti (’14) were all ordained priests in Christendom’s home Diocese of Arlington this past Saturday, June 5. Ordained by Bishop Michael Burbidge, the three new priests concelebrated their first Mass together in the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, surrounded by fellow alumni priests, their family, friends, and members of the college’s staff and faculty.

“More than ever, our church and world need priests to take Jesus Christ to them,” said Bishop Burbidge during the Mass. “I am confident that as you go forth as our newest priests, those you are sent to serve will easily recognize you, through your faithful witness, humility and sacrificial service. Be assured that the One who has chosen you will sustain you and be with you today and forever. Remain in his love, so that his love may be in you, and your joy may be complete.”

Frs. Heisler, Townsend, and Fioramonti made up three of the four men ordained as new priests in the Diocese of Arlington on Saturday. Together, they now raise the total number of Christendom alumni serving in the Diocese to 21, joining Fr. Carroll Oubre, Fr. Tom Vander Woude, Fr. Joseph Kenna, Fr. Bjorn Lundberg, Fr. Noah Morey, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler, Fr. Steve McGraw, Fr. John Heisler, Fr. Vincent Bork, Fr. Kevin Beres, Fr. Michael Taylor, Fr. Kevin Walsh, Fr. Francis Peffley, Fr. Joseph Farrell, Fr. Nicholas Blank, Fr. Christopher Tipton, Fr. Denis Donahue, and Fr. Peter McShurley.

The three priests will begin their first parish assignments as parochial vicars soon, with Fr. Fioramonti serving at St. Leo the Great Church in Fairfax, Fr. Heisler at St. James in Falls Church, and Fr. Townsend at the Basilica of St. Mary in Alexandria.

Together, the new alumni priests raise the total number of Christendom alumni priests to 98, including the recently ordained Fr. Joseph Dalimata, FSSP (’17). Later this year, Rev. Mr. John McFadden, OSB (‘13) will be ordained to the priesthood at Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey in Oklahoma on October 24.

In total, Christendom currently has 98 priests, 53 sisters, 6 brothers, 3 transitional deacons, 1 permanent deacon, and 13 men currently studying for the priesthood, along with 519 alumna-to-alumnus marriages.
