Christendom’s women’s soccer team broke a three-game losing streak with a resounding win over Trinity University this past Monday, defeating the team 9-1 at home. The women’s volleyball team returned from a fall break with a weekend split, while the men’s soccer team fell on the road to Johnson & Wales.

After a winning month to start their season, the women’s soccer team struggled in the month of October, going 1-4 in their first five matchups. In front of a packed crowd for Senior Night, the team looked to bounce back in a big way and did so, with Mary Sabados and Megan Lovar quickly putting the team up 2-0 in the first 20 minutes. Trinity scored their only goal of the game soon after before Christendom poured on the goals, with Lovar, Erin Hatley, and Miranda Keller all scoring. Catherine Thomas picked up two goals of her own while Lovar secured a hat trick with the final goal of the game.

Most importantly, Lucia Vincenzino scored in her final home game for Christendom, wrapping up her Christendom athletics career by helping lead her team to a resounding 9-1 win. The team now stands at 8-8 on the season with two more games left to play this season.

On the road, the women’s volleyball team returned from fall break to also take on Trinity. Nora Ross, Cate Brezinsky, and Claire Mense again led the way for Christendom, helping the team sweep Trinity in straight sets. They followed up that game with another the next day, taking on Regent University on the road. Regent won in the first set before Christendom mounted the comeback in the second. Both teams fought out a challenging third set, before Regent took the lead, won the set, and won the final as well for a 3-1 victory.

The women’s volleyball team now stands at 9-11 with two games left to play, including their Conference Championship this coming weekend.

The men’s soccer team also returned from break, taking on Johnson & Wales on the road following a three-game winning streak. That streak was not to last, however, with Johnson & Wales shutting out Christendom 4-0. The team will play their final two games of the season at home on Tuesday and Thursday.
