Christendom’s women’s basketball team picked up their seventeenth win of the season over the weekend, defeating Penn State Fayette on the road 86-49. The win marked their third in the last four games as they continue to push for a USCAA Nationals berth at the end of February.

The women’s basketball team continued their stretch on the road over the weekend, following a loss to Penn State Beaver last Saturday (only their fourth of the season). On Wednesday, the team took on Frederick CC, handily defeating them 77-43. Catherine Thomas led the team with 27 points and 18 assists, while Mary Pennefather put up an incredible triple-double, scoring 22 points while also making 15 assists and 14 rebounds. Miranda Keller rounded out the top of Christendom’s offense with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Penn State Fayette to take on the team for the first time this season. Christendom took it to Penn right from the jump, outscoring them 34-2 in the first quarter alone. Penn played stronger basketball after that disastrous first quarter, but not enough to catch up to Christendom’s staunch offense. The team won 86-49, securing their seventeenth win of the season. Pennefather put up another triple-double, scoring 31 points and putting up 11 assists and 17 rebounds. Thomas and Keller both tied for second-most points scored with 17 each.

The women’s basketball team will next return home to take on Washington Adventist on Tuesday, February 6, looking to bounce back after suffering a loss to them earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team continued their road trip as well over the weekend, taking on Mid-Atlantic Christian. The team fell in a heartbreaking 69-64 loss, suffering their fourth-straight loss.

The team will next play on Wednesday, February 7, traveling to Penn State Mont Alto.
