Christendom’s Graduate School of Theology will hold its first academic symposium this April, with Cardinal Raymond Burke celebrating Mass for attendees and offering the keynote address for the symposium. The symposium, which will focus on the Most Blessed Trinity, will be held on Saturday, April 13, on Christendom’s Front Royal, Virginia, campus.
The Graduate School’s Trinity Symposium will bring together scholars and professionals, who will explore the relevance of Trinitarian faith to every academic discipline and its intersection with every aspect of human life. Over the course of the day, attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations on the relevance of Trinitarian doctrine and faith, highlighting their significance for thought and action, and for the Christian life in general. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit a Trinitarian art exhibit sponsored by the Kletschka Foundation, which be held at the Trellis Venue just down the road from Christendom’s campus.
The day will begin with a talk from Fr. Thomas Weinandy, O.F.M. Cap., focusing on “The Trinity and Creation.” Following this first talk, attendees will be able to attend Mass in Christendom’s new Christ the King Chapel celebrated by Cardinal Burke, with lunch following.
In the afternoon, talks on the Trinity will be given by Bob Conroy, Dr. Stephen Hipp, and Dr. Phil Rolnick, before Fr. Emery De Gaal delivers a talk on “Mary and the Holy Trinity.” Finally, the day will conclude with the keynote address on the Most Blessed Trinity from Cardinal Burke before Exposition and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament is offered in Christ the King Chapel.
Cardinal Burke, previously the Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, is a great friend of the college. In 2007, he received an honorary doctorate from Christendom, and in 2013 he chaired the Honorary Dinner Committee for Christendom’s 35th Anniversary Gala. Cardinal Burke recently joined Christendom for its special 45th Anniversary and 20th Anniversary of the Junior Semester in Rome celebrations in Rome last spring as well.
“I’m very well acquainted with the writings of Dr. Warren Carroll, and I have also long admired the work of Dr. O’Donnell, and am a faithful reader of the newsletter of the College,” says Cardinal Burke. “I have known a number of the alumni, and of course, I always think that the ultimate test of the excellence of a Catholic college is the quality of faith in Christ and in His Church of the alumni, and Christendom certainly stands out in that regard.”
