This spring semester, Christendom’s Career and Professional Development Office will welcome a host of successful alumni back to campus to take part in the popular Life on Tap alumni networking series. These events help current students learn more about various professions and opportunities for further education available to them with their liberal arts degree.
“Having alumni speak about their various careers shows current students the wide range of jobs they can pursue with their Christendom liberal arts education,” says Director of Career and Professional Development Kristin Stephens. “This semester, I am most excited to bring back a few recent graduates to talk about what life is like after Christendom. Not only can they talk about their career and schooling pursuits, but they can also share insights about finding community and living on their own,”
Over the semester, there will be three Life on Tap talks, featuring alumni in a variety of career fields, including politics, videography, medicine, physical therapy, athletics, and more.
On February 28, recent graduates Maesa Vincente ‘23, John Paul Gutschke ‘23, Mary Clare Young ‘22, and Brian Hicks ’22 will speak on what life is like after Christendom, as well as internships they pursued while they were students. On March 20, alumnae Dr. Olivia Musilli ’17, Dr. Emily Janaro ’19, and Rose Herlihy ’15 will share their experiences in the medical field. Finally, on April 3, Joe Dotson ’23, Sean Kiely ’08, and Quinn Beekwilder ’04 will talk about their work in sports and athletics.
Contrary to popular belief, a liberal arts education opens the door to a world of possibilities in nearly every major career field, as proven by Christendom’s alumni and their various careers. Through the study of the Catholic liberal arts, Christendom’s graduates are far from limited in their future careers as they encounter a universal and expansive study of knowledge through mathematics, history, literature, classics, and political science – all unified by the central role of philosophy and theology. As St. John Henry Newman observed, by seeking the truth through various disciplines, the student attains an intellectual prowess in which he can take up any career and thrive with competence, versatility, and success.
The Life on Tap series demonstrates this success fulfilled in the lives of countless alumni, who share their insights with current students. Each event consists of a panel interview with the alumni guests, hosted by Director of Career and Professional Development Kristin Stephens, followed by a Q&A with the students. These will be exclusive events for the members of the Christendom community.
