Christendom will begin its path to another Rugby 7s national championship this weekend, traveling to Gaithersburg, Maryland, for the Collegiate Rugby Championship. Ranked as the #1 seed in their bracket, the team will look to capture their second 7s national title and the third national title overall for Christendom rugby.

Christendom is competing in a 16-team field, beginning pool play in the West bracket. On Friday, Christendom will begin their weekend with a match against #8 Western Oregon at 10:24 am EDT at Maryland SoccerPlex, which will air on National Collegiate Rugby’s YouTube page. If they make it through that game, they will play the winner of Duke vs. Howard at 2:15 pm on Friday as well, with the goal of making it into the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday.

This is Christendom’s latest trip to the Collegiate Rugby Championship, after finishing as runners-up in the 2022 National Championship game and taking ninth in the 2023 National Championship tournament. Following a strong 2023 15s season that saw them go all the way to the National Collegiate Rugby Sweet Sixteen, Christendom continued taking care of business in the spring, winning multiple tournaments, including their regional qualifier, and the Cardinals Conference Championship in April.

With skyrocketing travel costs, the team is looking to raise funds for their latest trip to the Collegiate Rugby 7s National Championship. To support the team, visit here.
