President-Elect Dr. George Harne will deliver the keynote address for Chelsea Academy’s summer conference, being held this year on Saturday, July 20, in Front Royal, Virginia.
This will mark Dr. Harne’s first public lecture as Christendom’s next president, following his official first day in office on July 1. A widely respected and accomplished scholar of music history and the liberal arts, Dr. Harne will deliver a talk titled “The Contemplative Statesman,” tying directly into the conference’s theme of educating for virtue in 21st-century America.
The Chelsea Academy summer conference, titled “Serving God and Country,” will convene leading voices to tackle questions of Catholic education and statesmanship on July 20. Joining Dr. Harne will be the Honorable Ken Cuccinelli, professor and speaker Dr. Chad C. Pecknold, author Tim Carney, CLT founder and CEO Jeremy Tate, and others, ready to discuss how to form faithful Catholic leaders capable of meeting the challenges of today.
Dr. Harne, who earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and received master’s degrees from Princeton, St. John’s College, and the University of Washington, previously served as the Executive Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences for the University of St. Thomas in Houston and as President of Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts. A popular speaker and writer, Dr. Harne has been featured on EWTN and has written for First Things, The National Catholic Register, and Catholic Education Daily.
