Christendom College has appointed Philip Ashton as its new chief financial officer.

Ashton brings more than 30 years of experience to his role as chief financial officer, including over a decade as a Partner and Director of Research at the Radcliffe Group, Inc., where he helped manage a $2.5 billion global portfolio, and seven years at the Rock Creek Group, where he served as a Director of Risk, overseeing the firm’s $17 billion in institutional assets. His deep well of experience in financial and operational management, risk management, and strategic investment will be an enormous asset to the continued financial vitality of Christendom College.

“We are pleased to welcome Philip to Christendom College,” says College President George A. Harne, Ph.D. “He has the right skills and experience for the role as well as a deep understanding and passion for our mission.  His faith, acumen, insight, and orientation to the restoration of all things in Christ is exactly what we need at this moment.  We are grateful that he will be joining us as we prepare to mark Christendom’s fiftieth year and plan for the next half-century.”

Ashton received his B.A. from the University of Chicago and his MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also currently a master’s candidate in philosophy at Holy Apostles College, with an anticipated graduation date in 2025. He has also been heavily involved in his local community, serving as chair of the finance council for Renaissance Montessori School and serving as both a member of the finance committee and as president of the PRO Board for Seton School. He also serves as a basketball coach at Seton. Ashton and his wife Jennifer have four children.

Ashton is succeeding former Vice President for Financial Affairs Scott Kay in the role, who served the college well for nearly three years. Acting Vice President for Financial Affairs Arthur Dhanagom will return to his role as Comptroller and HR Director, and the college is grateful to Dhanagom for his service in this acting role over the last six months.
