Christendom College President George A. Harne, Ph.D. will join a panel of fellow college leaders and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education for a Heritage Foundation discussion on reclaiming the culture of American higher education, taking place on April 8.
The event, which begins at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, will feature Harne alongside the presidents of the College of the Ozarks, Grand Canyon University, and Wyoming Catholic College. Together, they will explore a renewed American vision for higher education, with Harne contributing key insights from his over 15 years of experience in academic leadership. The event will be available to stream virtually.
Dr. Harne’s appearance follows Christendom College being named a “Great Option” in the Heritage Foundation’s recently released Choose College with Confidence guide — a publication that highlights institutions grounded in traditional values and classical liberal arts education.
Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts, a strong supporter of Christendom, recently praised the college as a “special institution.”
“I’m a proud parent of someone who is at Christendom and is flourishing here—and flourishing because of the intellectual formation, the spiritual formation, and the social formation,” said Roberts. “All of those ingredients come into a recipe that Christendom has perfected over decades. And even if I weren’t a dad, I would be looking to hire a lot of people from Christendom because I think it’s that special of an institution.”
For years, the Heritage Foundation has been one of the top internship destinations for Christendom students, with numerous alumni building careers there post-graduation.
A widely respected scholar of music history and the liberal arts, Dr. Harne earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University, with additional master’s degrees from Princeton, St. John’s College, and the University of Washington. He has appeared on EWTN and numerous podcasts, and his writing has been featured in First Things, The Imaginative Conservative, and the National Catholic Register.
He is also the host of the Christendom Conversations podcast and is currently completing two manuscripts on medieval music. A frequent lecturer on Catholic liberal education, Dr. Harne speaks nationally on its enduring value in the modern world.
