Alumnus Fr. Noah Morey ’08 has been named the new Director of the Office of Vocations for Christendom College’s home Diocese of Arlington. Fr. Morey, who has served as chaplain at Bishop Ireton High School since 2019, will now oversee all vocations efforts for the diocese, which is known for having one of the highest levels of vocations in the United States.
In his new role, Fr. Morey will lead discernment events across the diocese, along with providing personalized guidance to those discerning a call to the religious life, overseeing the application process for seminary and religious community applications, and promoting vocational awareness at parishes and schools.
Fr. Morey has been serving within the diocese since his ordination ten years ago. His own call to the priesthood began during his time at Christendom, where he frequently prayed before the Sacred Heart of Jesus window in Christ the King Chapel.
“It became the norm to make a visit to the chapel,” says Fr. Morey. “Whether it was during a more formalized Holy Hour during adoration or just stopping by on the way back from the gym or soccer field to pause for a few minutes to reflect on God’s presence, I frequently experienced God’s closeness to us at Christendom, especially in the sacramental life, and most especially in the Eucharist.”
As he knelt before the high altar, he would often meditate on the words inscribed beneath the Sacred Heart window: “Son, Give Me Thy Heart.” He began to wonder if those words were directed personally to him — an invitation to the priesthood. That quiet, persistent call stayed with him, leading him to contact the vocations office and enter seminary one year after graduation.
Now, Fr. Morey will be the same resource for countless other souls within the Diocese of Arlington, helping others discern the same vocation that has transformed his life for Christ.
For nearly fifty years, Christendom College has flourished within the Arlington Diocese, thanks to the initial support of then-Bishop Thomas J. Welsh in 1977, and each of the subsequent bishops after him. The Diocese of Arlington has given its support to Christendom over the years, and Christendom has graciously given back to the diocese in turn, with over 30% of Christendom’s alumni choosing to stay in the diocese post-graduation — including twenty-one alumni currently serving as priests in the diocese, with another alumnus now studying in seminary as well.
