Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Christendom College’s district, took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this week to recognize Christendom Athletics for its outstanding achievements both on the court and in the classroom during the 2024–25 academic year.

In addition to a national title for women’s basketball and a national runner-up finish for women’s soccer, the college’s Athletics Department was honored with the USCAA President’s Cup — awarded to the institution with the best overall academic performance in the country.

“Today I rise to honor Christendom College, which has once again shown that excellence on the field can go hand in hand with excellence in the classroom,” said Congressman Cline. “I commend Athletics Director Patrick Quest and Assistant Athletics Director Joe Dotson for their outstanding leadership. I congratulate Christendom on their fourth President’s Cup in six years, which reflects a deep commitment to forming student-athletes who excel both intellectually and athletically.”

This is the second time Christendom has been recognized in the halls of Congress, following the women’s basketball team being recognized last year after winning their first national title.

Over the past academic year, Christendom’s student-athletes excelled both in competition and in the classroom. Varsity teams achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.51, with the senior class leading the way at 3.61.

In total, 40 student-athletes were named USCAA National Academic All-Americans — an honor requiring a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while actively participating in a varsity sport. The achievement highlights the student-athletes’ ability to balance rigorous academics with the demands of collegiate athletics — a hallmark of Christendom’s athletic program.

Since the award’s inception in 2018, Christendom has won the award 4 times and placed third and second as well — a testament to the college’s strength in balancing sports success with academic excellence.

The award is the capstone to an incredible year for Christendom Athletics, which saw the women’s basketball team win their second national championship title in a row, the women’s soccer team finish as national champion runners-up, and the men’s rugby team compete once again in the National Collegiate Rugby National Championship Tournament.
