Christendom College theology professor Mary Stanford will lead a retreat for the Diocese of Arlington this coming month, September 19-21, focusing on the themes of obedience and spiritual union. Drawing from her acclaimed book The Obedience Paradox, Stanford will help participants deepen their prayer lives and relationships—both with their spouses and with Christ.
Stanford is an acclaimed writer and speaker, who recently appeared on the nationally recognized Lila Rose Show to discuss “the obedience paradox.” She was also a featured guest on the popular Godsplaining podcast and appeared on Christendom’s own Christendom Conversations podcast, where she joined Christendom President George A. Harne, Ph.D., for a discussion on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and its relevance in an increasingly digital age.
Stanford holds a master’s degree in theological studies from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. In addition to her teaching at Christendom, she is a sought-after speaker and author on Catholic marriage and family life.
Her book, The Obedience Paradox, contributes to the ongoing debate over marriage in the modern world, building on her numerous articles, talks, and courses on Theology of the Body. Since its release, the book has garnered widespread acclaim, with scholars and religious leaders praising it as “a new path forward” in discussions on marriage and the traditional concepts of masculinity and femininity.
