Christendom College has begun construction on two major campus projects: the Madonna Hall Faculty Office expansion and the Venerable Jerome Lejeune Hall Science Lab. These developments mark an exciting new chapter in the college’s ongoing investment in academic excellence and community life.
“We are excited about these new places on campus, which will enrich the education our students receive,” says College President George A. Harne, Ph.D. “To carry out the vision of Christendom’s founders, there must be beautiful spaces where students and faculty can teach, study, and pursue truth together. The Venerable Jerome Lejeune Science Lab makes clear that the college understands the study of science as an essential part of a Catholic liberal education. Likewise, the new Madonna Hall offices provide spaces for study, intellectual communion, and mentorship — all befitting the dignity and centrality of these activities to our mission.”
This expansion to the existing Madonna Hall faculty office space will create two new single-story buildings totaling approximately 6,000 square feet, providing 14 new faculty offices, along with three faculty lounge areas and two small conference rooms, all with ground-level entry.
Construction is underway on the Madonna Hall Faculty Office expansion, located behind Regina Coeli Hall, the college’s main administrative building. This expansion will create two new single-story buildings totaling approximately 6,000 square feet, providing 14 new faculty offices, along with three faculty lounge areas and two small conference rooms, all with ground-level entry.
When completed, the project will bring the total number of faculty offices on campus to 43, offering dignified and functional workspaces where professors can meet with students, collaborate with peers, and continue their scholarship in a welcoming environment.
Designed with direct faculty input, the new space fosters accessibility, community, and collaboration — key aspects of Christendom’s academic culture. The two new wings will form a “U” shape, enclosing the existing courtyard adjacent to Madonna Hall, further enhancing the sense of community among faculty and students alike.
Alongside this project, Christendom is also progressing on the construction of the Venerable Jerome Lejeune Hall Science Lab, located near St. John the Evangelist Library. This new facility will become the home of the college’s Natural Science Major, providing students with the lab space and equipment essential for advanced coursework in biology and chemistry.

The new lab will strengthen the college’s science offerings, helping students fulfill prerequisites for careers in medicine, research, and other scientific fields.
“The Venerable Jerome Lejeune Science Lab is an important step in establishing the college’s new Natural Science major,” says Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kevin Tracy. “Students who major in this discipline will be prepared to pursue careers in the health sciences, science education, science journalism, law, and other areas. They will have not only the tools necessary to engage contemporary issues in the sciences but also a Thomistic understanding of the place of science in our understanding of reality.”
The lab is located near the college’s St. John the Evangelist Library.
These new projects reflect Christendom’s enduring mission to form students intellectually and spiritually within a vibrant academic community, helping prepare them to go out into the world and fulfill the college’s mission to “restore all things in Christ.”
