Christendom College President George A. Harne, Ph.D., has released a new episode of the Christendom Conversations podcast, featuring a compelling conversation with Cardinal Newman Society president Patrick Reilly. Together, they discuss the challenges Catholic universities face today and how St. John Henry Newman’s vision for Catholic higher education offers a path forward.
Reilly is the President, CEO, and Founder of The Cardinal Newman Society, which promotes and defends faithful Catholic education. Reilly has authored numerous articles and studies on Catholic education for The Cardinal Newman Society and national media, and he has appeared on EWTN, FOX News, MSNBC, and various radio programs. His past roles include work at the U.S. House of Representatives, the Department of Education, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and several education and research organizations. He and his wife, Rosario, have five children, including a 2025 graduate of Christendom College.
In his conversation with Dr. Harne, Reilly discusses his journey in Catholic education and how he ultimately founded the Cardinal Newman Society. They also examine St. John Henry Newman’s vision for an integrated formation in higher education — a perfect topic in light of Newman’s recent elevation as a Doctor of the Church.
This marks the tenth episode of Christendom Conversations, following October’s episode with Dr. Bracy Bersnak, which delved into Catholic social teaching, the historical context of intellectual conservatism after World War II, and where conservatism stands today in the modern world.
Christendom Conversations is part of Christendom College’s expanding podcast network, which offers listeners and viewers rich engagement with the Catholic intellectual tradition. Through in-depth interviews with Catholic scholars and cultural leaders, the podcast explores timeless questions and enduring truths. New episodes are released monthly.
