When Mary Ann Di Paola realized that Christendom taught and promoted the Truth, she wanted to be a part of the college’s mission by establishing a $100,000 unitrust to support students. Her generosity has helped Christendom’s $40 million campaign draw even closer to the finish line.
Wanting to promote education opportunities for students in need of financial help, Di Paola established a Charitable Remainder Unitrust in memory of her late sister, Delores Di Paola, and close friend Roseanne Cole, who both believed in the value of higher education and promoting scholarship.
The unitrust presents the opportunity for Di Paola to achieve both of her goals: promote education and honor the memory of her sister and friend.
“I knew my sister had wanted to establish something that would be lasting and encourage growth of the school,” says Di Paola. “Not just a couple of scholarships for students, but something the school could invest in some way and which could eventually become part of its endowment, to have a long-lasting impact.”
A Charitable Remainder Unitrust allows Di Paola to make the largest possible gift to the college while providing her with significant tax deductions and a small income. The unitrust will preserve Mary Ann’s legacy by making the charitable remainder part of Christendom’s endowment, having a continuing effect on the growth of the college.
“I think Christendom is a force,” shares Di Paola. “I can see it when I read about who your graduation speakers are, and I can see that you are still what I want you to be. You are courageous.”
