Christendom College has launched a new, seven-part course titled “Theology of the Body” on its free online learning platform. Taught by Christendom College professor Mary Stanford, the course explores Pope St. John Paul II’s groundbreaking Theology of the Body, offering teachings that have the power to transform lives, relationships, and one’s connection to God.

Drawing on the wisdom of Pope St. John Paul II, this free online course helps participants rediscover the truth about human identity—body, mind, and soul—and share that truth with today’s world. Over the course of seven lessons, viewers will dive deeply into the biblical creation account of man and woman, receiving insights that can help heal the wounds in families, communities, and the broader culture.

“In today's culture, where there is so much confusion about the meaning of the human body, it is critical to understand our Creator's original plan for humanity, for those creatures who—in their very existence—unite the material and spiritual worlds,” says Stanford. “Only in meditating upon that original design can we truly understand how sin has weakened and warped our nature and, mercifully, how grace and virtue can restore us to that community for which we were destined."

A professor at Christendom College, Stanford holds a master’s degree in theological studies from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. Beyond the classroom, she is a highly sought-after speaker and writer on Catholic marriage and family life. She also recently appeared on the popular "Christendom Conversations" podcast, where she spoke on Theology of the Body with College President George A. Harne, Ph.D.

Accessible on desktop and mobile devices, Stanford's course launches with the first four lessons available immediately, and the remaining three will be released weekly through November 12.

The new course joins other free offerings on Christendom’s online learning platform, including Dr. Andrew Whitmore’s popular “Becoming a Saint: Wisdom from Aquinas to Grow in Virtue,” which launched this past summer. That course explores what sainthood truly means and offers practical steps for growing in holiness in today’s world.

Intended to help people everywhere come to better know and love the Catholic Faith, Christendom’s online platform also features other courses such as “The Principles of Catholic Bioethics,”“Understanding Human Nature,” “Christ: The Center of History,”“Foundations of the New Testament,” and many more.

This initiative reflects Christendom’s longstanding mission to form lay Catholics in the truths of faith and reason and to equip them to live out the truth with confidence and clarity. Through these free online courses, even more people now have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and grow in holiness—at no cost.
