This fall semester, Christendom’s Career and Professional Development Office will welcome several successful alumni, working in the fields of fundraising, writing, and law, back to campus for the popular Life on Tap alumni networking series. Life on Tap gives current students the chance to learn more about various professions and opportunities for further advancement after graduation from Christendom.
Over the course of this semester’s three events, current students will hear from several alumni from a variety of career paths. On September 2, alumni Sebastian Ghering ’23 and Catherine Schmidt ’24 will discuss their careers in fundraising, while on October 7, alumni Daniel Duca ’22, Cat McCaughey ’23, and Avigayil Holmstedt ’25 will share their experiences working as authors. Finally, on November 4, alumni Daniel Spinelli ’21 and Justin Corman ’22 will delve into their careers as lawyers.
Christendom’s Career and Professional Development Office offers opportunities to hear from alumni at Life on Tap at least three times a semester. Each event consists of a panel interview with the alumni guests, hosted by Director of Career and Professional Development Kristin Stephens, followed by a Q&A with students.
In addition, students are given regular opportunities to attend relevant career workshops, meet with future employers, secure summer internships, and explore a plethora of career paths before they have even declared a major. Through these and other opportunities, the Career and Professional Development Office helps students discern their career path following graduation.
The liberal arts education that Christendom offers, rather than limiting its alumni in their future work, equips them well for a wide variety of career fields. The study of the Catholic liberal arts develops students in critical thinking, research, thoughtful analysis of complex issues, and exemplary written and spoken communication. The scope of the curriculum, from math to theology and from political science to literature, offers students a wide range of knowledge with which to approach their future endeavors. Rooted in the enduring works and ideas of Western civilization, a Christendom education ultimately gives graduates the intellectual habits and practical skills necessary for success across a wide range of professions.
All Life on Tap events are held from 7-9:00 p.m. in Old Chapel Hall and are reserved for members of the Christendom community.
