Event planner Shelagh Bolger and caterer Mike Brown, both Christendom alumni, will provide insights to their success on Tuesday, January 30, in the first “Life on Tap” networking event of the spring semester. Held at 7:30 p.m. in Christendom’s St. Kilian’s Café, the alumni will give tips on how to succeed in event planning,and will be available for networking with students before and after the event. Refreshments will be provided, and all are invited to attend.

Alumni Shelagh Bolger (’10) and Mike Brown (’87) will speak on the ins-and-outs of event planning.

Shelagh Bolger (’10) is an event planner for Hewell Events Group, an event planning company based out of Washington, D.C. After earning her B.A. in political science from Christendom, Bolger became an event planner for Mount St. Mary’s University. After two years of coordinating all President’s Office events, she became the personal manager for recording artist Marie Miller. In addition to her work for Hewell Events, Bolger also runs her own business, and has had her work published in Spoken BrideVerily, and Darling.

Mike Brown (‘87) runs the successful catering business, Downtown Catering Company, located in Front Royal, Virginia. His business specializes in variety of events, including engagement parties, weddings, and corporate retreats. In addition to his catering work, Brown is an assistant professor of philosophy at Christendom College, and the director of the college’s mission trips program. Brown has also served as dean of student life at Christendom, and earned his Master’s in philosophy from the Catholic University of America.
