Christendom’s women’s soccer team wrapped up their incredible season on Saturday, defeating Manor College handily, 14-0. The game completed the team’s unprecedented streak of 13 straight games without a loss, where they went 10-0-3, earned a #1 ranking from the USCAA for the first time in program history, and outscored their opponents 72-6 over that stretch.

It is hard to overstate how impressive this streak was for the women’s soccer team. After losing their first game of the season, the team refused to yield the rest of the way, winning nine straight games before gutting out back-to-back-to-back ties against two of the USCAA’s best teams in the closing stretch of the season.

On Saturday, the women’s soccer team looked to close their regular season in definitive fashion, taking on Manor College for the second time this season. Much like their first game, Christendom took over the game quickly, putting up seven goals in the first half alone. Theresa Luckey scored a hat trick by the 31:00 minute mark of the game, with Mary Sabados, Julia Dejak, and Mary Curran also scoring for Christendom.

The second half was the same story, with the team putting up another seven goals. Sabados scored two more to secure her own hat trick, while Megan Lovar scored twice, Miranda Keller scored twice, and Mary Corcoran snagged a goal of her own. Christendom won, 14-0 — their tenth win of the season, and thirteenth straight game without a loss.

The game marked Serena Keller’s fifth solo shutout of the season (she also played in three other shutout games, splitting time with Maria Blank). Overall, Keller ranked #4 in the USCAA in goals-against-average for the season, finishing with an incredible 0.85. On the offensive side of the ball, Luckey finished the season ranked #4 in the USCAA in goals scored and #6 in total points. Ava Hudson ranked #4 in total points and tied for #2 in assists with Miranda Keller. The team, currently ranked #2 in the nation, will now await news on if they will be invited to compete in the USCAA National Championship in November.

Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer team also wrapped up their season over the weekend, playing back-to-back road games against Williamson and Manor. In the first game on Friday, Christendom jumped ahead early on Williamson, thanks to a goal from George Storey in the first three minutes. The goal opened the flood gates for Christendom, with the team putting up six goals in the first half in total. Storey scored a second time, with Sean Corcoran, Joshua Cruz, Justin Zappe, and JP Tsakanikas all scoring for Christendom as well. That was more than enough, with the Crusaders ultimately winning 6-1 for their seventh of the season.

On Saturday, the team fought hard against Manor but came up short in their season finale, 2-0. The men’s soccer team wrapped up their season with a 7-6-3 record, ranking #11 in the USCAA.

Women’s Volleyball

The women’s volleyball team went on the road for their regular-season finale, competing in a tri-match at Appalachian Bible. Christendom won decisively in the opening match, defeating Crown College in straight sets 3-0, but came up short in the finale against Appalachian, 3-2. Those decisions ended Christendom’s season with an overall record of 9-11, with the team ranking #11 in the USCAA.
