Christendom’s women’s basketball team brought themselves just two games away from twenty wins this past week, defeating USCAA DII Penn State Mont Alto 80-51 — their eighteenth win of the season. Meanwhile, back at home, the men’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak, defeating USCAA DII Williamson 82-73.

The women’s basketball team continued their march towards twenty wins — and a hopeful USCAA Nationals berth — this past week, taking on Washington Adventist at home on Tuesday before traveling to Penn State Mont Alto on Wednesday. The home matchup against Washington proved to be a challenging one for Christendom, with the team falling behind in the second quarter after a tightly fought first. Christendom ultimately fell 74-50, only their fifth loss this season. Catherine Thomas led the team in points in the loss, scoring 23.

The team bounced right back the next day on the road, however, quickly going up 41-26 on Penn State Mont Alto after the first half of play. This dominance on both sides of the court continued the rest of the game, with Christendom coming up with the 80-51 victory. Thomas led the team in scoring again with 27 points, with Mary Pennefather not far behind with 25 points. The team will begin its final full week of regular season basketball this week, with home games on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team returned home after a tough, 0-5 road trip, looking to start their final homestand of the season off strong. Taking on Williamson, the team came out hot in the first half, outscoring Williamson 38-32. Despite a stronger second half from Williamson, Christendom was able to hold on, winning 82-73 to get back to a .500 record on the season. John Paul Vander Woude led the team in scoring with 23 points, while his brother, Bobby Vander Woude, scored 16.

The team will also enter its final full week of the season this week, playing on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at home.
