What is Christendom College?
Christendom College is a four-year coeducational Roman Catholic Liberal Arts College with undergraduate and graduate programs offered in locations in Front Royal and Alexandria, Virginia, Donegal, Ireland, and Rome, Italy.
Founded in 1977 in response to the devastating blow inflicted on Catholic higher education by the cultural revolution that swept across America in the 1960s, Christendom’s goal is to provide a truly Catholic education in fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and thereby to prepare students for their role as lay apostles to restore all things in Christ.
Christendom’s 77-hour core curriculum of carefully selected subjects required for all of its undergraduate students prepares its students for their role as lay apostles. The curriculum consists of five semesters of study in Theology, five semesters in Philosophy, four semesters in English Language and Literature, three semesters (of four credits each) in Classical or Modern Language, three semesters in History, two semesters in Political Science and Economics, one semester each in Mathematics and Natural Science, and 4 years of “Education for Life” career preparation coursework.
The College’s Front Royal campus overlooks the Shenandoah River with scenic views of the neighboring Blue Ridge Mountains. Students from all over the United States as well as internationally are attracted to the College’s Catholic family atmosphere and its dedication to the restoration of a truly Catholic culture.
The College offers two daily Masses; daily Confession, Rosary, and Eucharistic adoration; and celebrates together many liturgical and cultural feasts.
